DJ visits New Orleans

Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel was sworn in today and immediately began patrolling the NOPD’s Eighth District. He was flagged down by victims of a robbery at the Valobra Master Jewelers and started his first investigation.
Within minutes, Officer Daniel was able to identify and apprehend two subjects. After properly handcuffing the subjects and returning the stolen items, Officer Daniel escorted the subjects to the D8 holding cell without further incident.
In light of his incredible bravery, a second line was held in his honor along Royal Street. He was also presented with an award by Superintendent Kirkpatrick, who will continue to be an officer to whom we can all look for inspiration.
DJ Daniel has visited more than 200 police departments across the country following his brain cancer diagnosis in 2018. President Trump even made him an honorary member of the U.S. Secret Service. This was his first solo apprehension.
